Greetings!

I'm new to target shooting and recently enjoyed a 9mm semiautomatic (Ruger) pistol. Looking to buy something now but want something that will be suitable for occasional shooting (once per month)and also has character. We like the styling of the Luger, but I am confused by all of the different mfg variations and don't know where to begin shopping.

Would prefer to stay under the $700 range if that is possible. Am I dreaming?

Located in Maryland, USA

Any advice is appreciated.

Welcome to the Board........ People collect Lugers ( and other guns) for many reasons. They are a fun gun to shoot but I would not put them in the "target pistol" class. Character......... YOU BET...... IMO you will be hard pressed to find another pistol with more. Price....... You should be able to find a so called "shooter" Luger for around $700. What I would suggest is that you do a little reading and research on this piece of history. There is a lot more out there that you may want to learn about before you spend the $$$. Jan Still has some great books that you might want to consider reading before you do anything else.

I am also from Maryland, the laws here are much more comfortable here............ I have an original byf/42, in 70-75% original finish. Since you noted that your are a beginner, this gun was mfgr by Mauser in 1942, and it is most likely a combat veteran. This gun may be for sale this afternoon at $700. including shipping. I an dealing locally for a full auto Astra pistol and may have to include it in the trade deal. Many guns come with a 'story' attached, be cautious here, buy the gun then make up your own story and you will do just as well. I heard a tale that a shopper looked at Garand one time that was grossly over priced. The vendor informed that the firing proof, a circled P which appears on 95% of the Garands indicated that this one was Pattons personal gun. You should consider putting a pm on this site.

I am moving this to NEW Collectors area - if you want to do a WTB, please post it THERE and not in the for sale section.
Members, please do NOT post in the for sale section unless it pertains directly to asking a question on the item.
