Have a grand father that got this during his service as a Marine in the late 50's.

The holster isn't orginal (dated 1956 - so don't know what to think about it).

All parts on the gun are marked with 96 - i dissassemled it today and cleaned it well. Bore is in good shape and rifling still there (pic isn't that great but hoping you can see it well enough). The magazine doesn't have any markings on it at all that I can tell.

There are some stamps on the slide - don't know what they mean.

Any information is appreciated including a range of what it might be worth.

Jim.... Welcome to the Forum. It looks like the front sight got changed someplace along the way. The stamps on the side are acceptance stamps. Thank your Granddad for his service.

The holster is likely for a P38 for West Germany
