Pete ,

9214 and 9466 both have the blunt nose 4 font you see quite a bit .

9214 looks to maybe have some issues with the 1 and ??

10848 is a different 4 font but looks OK to me . Look at the E2 on that one . Nicely doubled .

10407 is scary to me .

4873's 4 font looks hand done and sloppy to me .

As always what are others thoughts on this ? I for sure do not know all .

You didn't ask but 9466 and 10848 are the only ones you would be able to sell me .

Wishful thinking as I am still at 3 guns and 2 mags .

Dave,

I like 9466 and 10848 too.

Notice the direction of the angled cut on the top of the vertical post in part of their number 4's. Angled towards the interior.

Back to HK Mag 6899 from Post # 214.

It appeared with an Erfurt magazine at the March 2015 Poulins action as Lot # 1587. Erfurt gun and this orphan HK mag went hammer down for $ 1,638.00.

Then in 10-2016 it shows up on the Historic Investment Arms web site out of Davenport IA State...for $ 1500...just for the orphan HK Mag.

As the gun show joke goes... " Retail, and then some. "

HK Mag 11662 to add to the Photo Study. My version of the HK List has gun SN-11662 as a 1941-Dated HK (w/ the small date)

Missed it earlier when going through the Gibson book. It is shown on page 57.

And here it is with some nearby magazines :

Really fake Mag 9911 photos.

Shape of the "1" number fonts on this one and some other HK Mags that are close-by.

And the shape of the "9" number fonts.

And then you have that eagle head/beak.

Mag 2053 photos.

And some sister photos of HK mags 2020, 2099, and 2124; for comparison of "2" numbers and the E/2 stampings.

Mag 2053 seems to have "stork legs" eagle. Not only is the magazine "re-numbered"...but more to the point, it is simply a fake.

Gun with SN-2053 was on the old HK List has having wooden grips. Now it has Ritz grips and a fake mag. Sold by Legacy. Interesting who owned it in the past.

Nice to add some promising one(s) to the Magazine Bottom photo-study.

Here is HK Mag SN-7581 and a couple pretty close by.

This gun and magazine are new for my version of the HK List. Not on the old List and not in Gibson.

Hi Grant,

We have seen that phony "stork legs" eagle here in the USA quite a bit.

Jerry B. likes to call it the Pterodactyl eagle.

On magazines, tools, and even holsters.

One mechanic is getting (or got) their monies worth with that stamp. On the pair of magazines, he even managed to place it at the wrong location on the bases.

HK Magazine 5834 (orphan)

Pete, I just acquired a new orphan HK magazine. Here are the photos of number 5834 (1936 vintage).

An additional closeup of the Luft Eagle/2 with alternate lighting.

I suppose that this Luft Eagle could be nicknamed "Hercules Eagle" with it's strong stance and flexed wing tips...

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the new report of orphan HK Mag 5834.

No previous report of the mag or the gun on my version of the HK List.

We can also call that the "Arnold" eagle. Have seen that 1-2 times in the past. Heavy hammer stroke, for sure.

Here is your mag with some nearby...5809 and 6367. On the above-side of your mag's SN, I had to go up all the way to 6367...as those closer to your mag are all a bunch of faked ones.

Looks like another "fabricated" magazine...SN-3957. Not very promising.

Text added :

And a very similar one sold by Boy-O-Phoenix in the past...SN-5739.

Think the mechanic was lazy and use the same 4 numbers to make both SN-3957 and SN-5739. Probably thought he was being very clever...sticking it to two collectors with one set of number dies.

Heck...I think he could have come up with 24 different SN versions with those 4 common numbers.
