I am trying to determine the correct holsters for two lugers - a 1936 S/42 and a 42BYF. Also I have a black holster marked bml/41, WaA788 stamped, with small "PO8"in upper right on the back - what would this be right for?
Dave, Holsters were not always issued with Lugers of the same year of manufacture. If the holster is dated with in 2 to 3 years of the pistol. It would be correct. It's nice to have a rig with the same dates, but that's not always the way it worked. It's not uncommon to find a varifiable vet bring back rig that is an Imperial Luger in a WWII holster. Holsters, just by their nature don't always survive heavy use. Especially in combat.
