The S/42 1938 is farily common and certainly not rare. On a scale of 1-10 1 being not rare and 10 being very rare I would give the S/42 1938 Luger a 2. I have one and I looked at quite a few before I bought the one I have. There were over 120,000 of this Mauser P.08 Luger produced making it the fourth most produced variation out of around 11 major Mauser Luger WWII variations.
