This gets asked a lot, never occurred to me to just take pictures.

The 'check'

Take a normal sized, old fashioned pencil and drop it down the bore. If its fairly tight, its 30 Luger (aka 7.65mm Luger)

- if it falls easily and there is plenty of room, its 9mm!!

Another thing you can do is take a loaded 9mm cartridge and try to slip in into the barrel at the muzzle. If it will almost go in it's a 9mm and if it won't hardly go in it's a 7.65.

A regular sized cigarette(or filter) is a perfect fit in a .30 cal. barrel.

Thanks, Edward! I’m brand new both in this forum and as a Luger owner (just got my first one today). Looks like mine is 7.65. What Ammo would you recommend? Thanks so much!

Usually most are pretty good, I did find that Only PPU would make my carbine function.
