Does anyone have actual proof the JA47 mark is for arsenal rework? Seems like speculation based on the number 47 in it. How do the re-arsenalized believers account for the fact that the guns not factory refinished? Why are the JA47 guns only found with 1942 or 1943 dates? Just want to find the facts if they exist.

Nice discussion but still no facts or proof is given. The crates of guns info is great but the poster said there were "Many" marked JU47, if refurbished it would be more like "All" were marked Ju47. If a JU47 gun was ever found with capture papers that would tell us the truth. Also why are there no other right side markings or re-stamps on the right tang of many of these? The JU47 stamp often appears on virgin un-refinished blue/metal with no other previous stamps around it or under it.

Another thing is if no one has seen any of the 28,000 how do we know they are JU47 marked?

It is "good information" but it is also pure speculation with no proof or data to support it. It seems that the 47 in UA47 leads some to jump to the conclusion that is a year of rework. The gun that is renumbered is no proof of anything. Who did it? When? Why? It is not connected to the UA47 proof in anyway.

No problem that Beretta likely did the serial number. Restamped serials are seen from every gun maker at least sometimes. It is a leap of speculation to then say that it is related to the UA47 marking.

That is more proof that it was renumbered at Beretta. They probably had a frame with a number already on it and reused it. Colt did the same in WWII with 5000 guns.
