So far, I have acquired three late war FN 35 Mags. These are the unmarked type with two slits in the base and lots of tool marks. All three look the same. All of them look the same as the one which came in my unissued German marked "a" series High Power. Two of the mags, including the one which came in the gun are rather snug and will not fall out when the button is pressed, however, one of them is an extraordinarily tight fit, which makes me wonder if it was a factory reject. Are such tight fitting FN mags common? Is there enough variation in the pistols so that this extra tight mag might be right for another late-war German occupation FN?

Thanks,
Greg

I imported large numbers of wartime mags and can say that this is not usual. There are not enough dimensionnal variations in the frames for this to fit a specific HP.

No, there is truly no comparison in quality between the postwar 1950s type finishing and the late wartime stuff. The late war are very crude and still have the split-tail floor plates. The Austrian contract pistols have the newer button release floorplate and the finish is similar to prewar quality.
