Here is a recent acquisition, that I believe to be a rare example. It is said to have come from an Erfurt 1914 LP08. The serial number is "14", it is cartouched with a gothic "H" acceptance stamp and also a little crown/RC. It is the only crown/H I have ever seen.

Hey Geo, That is pretty neat. Where did you find it? Were the first LP.08 stocks manufactured with the original pistols? I guess what I am asking is. Did the very first 1914 LPs have stocks numbered to them, that were manufactured simultaniously?

Pretty neat looking piece of lumber. I have never seen an Erfurt stock up close, so it is a treat to see the screws with Erfurt "brands" on them.

The thing that is mind numbing is that this stock was teamed with the 14th LP08 made by Erfurt and that was, perhaps, the 14th ever made.

George, This is a really fascinating example. You might remember not long ago we were discussing the difference in an Erfurt or DWM stock. It's pretty obvious in this very early example. As Ron says, I like the Erfurt proofed screws. I had never given this any thought but it is gratifying to see such a marked piece. This is one for the book you are writing! For those few of us who care, I thank you! I have printed photo's for my archive. Wonder when I will ever see another? Jerry Burney

Your very intresting item forced me to find the time for taking some pics of the shoulder stock of my # 50 Erfurt LP08.It bears the little proofs on the screws(they are different from those of your screws) and a nice letter/crown proof on the wood(this one is often seen on Erfurt LP08 stocks).It misses the RC/crown proof(I guess your stock could also be the only one with such an inusual marking).
