Just found this board and want to post some pictures of my drilling. JP Sauer Serial #334596 manufactured in March 1941. I would rate the gun in 98% or better condition. It is chambered in 12x12x9,3x74R. I do not know of an earlier example of a Luft Drilling.
The case is painted brown, excellent condition with all felt intact. I was told this gun saw service in Africa.
It is complete with original manual, original Sauer test fire sheet dated April 1941 and serialed to the gun, original AKAH sling, original cleaning kit and components.
I am also considering selling this gun and am open to offers.

Excellent photographs and presentation of your Luftwaffe drilling. Top commercial quality, large caliber, cased with interesting accessories, wartime production, markings and use by the Luftwaffe, all combine to attract the military collectors attention.
Thanks

Thank you, Jan. If you or anyone has information on earlier Luftwaffe drillings, I would appreciate that information. Also does anyone know how many Luft drillings are accounted for and how many in the US. Thanks to all.

I would imagine anything would be a WAG, and not scientific at that. In other words, I doubt anyone has more than a guess, and it would be just a guess...

Fred:
My data bank on M30 Drillings has at least seven number earlier than yours, June 1940 being the earliest. As to the number of M30 Drillings on record, my data bank has 61 listed.
Jim Cate supplied me with a copy of a back order summary from the RLM showing a total of 2455 shipped against a total of 4000 units originaly ordered. To the best of my knowledge there is no evidence,at this time, that balance was ever shipped.

Bob,
Thanks for all your information. Are the 61 you have knowledge of, all in the States or is that world wide? Also, of the total number produced, were all Sauer's or other manufacturer's? I had heard perhaps Merkle and Kreighoff had produced some.
