Hi,

I'm trying to verify the makers name in an early Luger holster. It's almost illegible but appears to be: Hugo Proetzel & Co. Berlin and is dated 1915. Any help would be much appreciated.

Pat,

Thanks for the contact. I checked some of the posts below and tried the baking soda. The name is clearer now and seems to read: Hugo Pretzel & Co. Berlin. Maybe he only made this holster and then invented the Salted Pretzel?

All kidding aside, thanks again,

Jerry

P.S. How do I post photos? Can anyone help? I just made my first Luger purchase since selling off my original collection back in 1984. A very nice, very clean, 1940 dated 42 code rig, serial# 2700c with a mag numbered 2715y. All other numbers match, the holster is dated 1940, (maker's name to follow) and the seller is trying to find the capture papers for me. He claims it was taken from a German Lieutenant during the battle of Monte Cassino.
