I have a German Luger that I have had since 1945. On top of the receiver is HK with a dagger between the H&K and below the HK is the name Krieghoff Suhl. It has a S stamped on the barrel and the seriel number is 2939. The gun is in excellent condition. I would like to have a little more history on this Luger if available.

I do not own an S date Krieghoff, so I cannot be of much help. One of the resident experts may offer some help.

As well - if you are able to take some pictures of your S variation HK and post them, I would be pleased to look at them and help you try to determine which variation of the "S" date you have - and provide some details about that specific variation.

Jack, welcome to the forum, the two who answered you are some of the two best sources I know of accurate info on Kriegs!
Plus, there is a book by Gibson, out of print but available still at gunshows or at Simpsons, LTD, specifically on Krieghoffs.

I collect stories on guns brought back from the war, if interested, and only if interested, I would love to hear how you aquired it? Traded for it from a vet, bought it or won it in a poker game in england, found in a supply room, etc. If interested, pictures and a short bio of you (credit of author always given), I am slowly making a booklet, have about 40 assorted stories and pictures.
