A friend has inherited a WWI? WWII? Colt M1911 45 ACP and leather holster in excellent condition and would like sell it.
What is a good forum site devoted to the M1911 that my friend could inquire and be able to determine the value of this pistol and holster?

Regards,
wes

With some persuasion, my friend has decided to give this pistol to his son. The original owner, my friend's father-in-law, was an army dentist with the rank of colonel during the war.
I have been corresponding with a forum member who is also a member of the CSP M1911 forum and he has informed us that this pistol is a Remington Rand M1911 manufactured in 1944. This pistol is approx. 96% original finish with excellent grips and bore. It appears to have been fired very little.
It came with a 1917 US holster and an original box of ammo.
This pistol was going to be traded to an acquaintance of my friend for a small 38 special pistol for my friend's wife to shoot.

Regards,
wes
