M1935 1944 marked. What should I look for?

I saw a 1935 7.65mm and dated 1944.
It looked like the original finish, about 95%+.
What other marks should I be looking for to make sure it's a correct WWII piece?

Are the significant parts serialed?
I only saw one set of nuymbers.

Who used this particular gun?
The Germans? Italians?
