My late M 1929 Swiss has black grips and what I thought was a matching black bottom magazine but when viewing in sunlight it appears to be a very dark brown. Is this correct? EVR

Hi Ed,

I see some variation in the brown M1929...from a lighter brown to a very dark brown (that easily looks black in gun show halls...).

The black M1929 is as black as the "Black Widow" FXO plastic...

In the meantime, those 1970's black Mauser-Interarms magazines work well in a black M1929 Bern...

Nowdays I bring a small black-leather wallet to gun shows...to hold up against the Bern magazines to see if they are black or dark brown...the lighting in most gun show halls really do not render colors accurately.
