Hello,

A fellow collector is asking for help on ID of those markings found on a 1913 Model 7.65mm Sauer pistol.......

Backstrap is marked with what seems like the letters DF and 1933 below:

Are we sure that we are talking about a 1913 Sauer ??? The only model that I am aware of that has your Dutch markings [ DF 1933 ] is the 1930 Sauer.

Mark,

DvF means "Department van Financiën" (Department of Finance). This pistol is a Sauer model 29, also called the "Dutch model". Similar to the later model 1930, but not identical. The variation with the DvF 1933 marking and property number 458 was used by an officer of the Dutch customs. This pistol is a rare variation!

If you would share the full serial number with us – this would great!
