Gentlemen,

I recently came across this Colt, serial # 3794XX (made in 1921?) with these markings, can anybody help interpreting them? It was possibly issued in the UK to a Norwegian SOE agent during WW2. Thanks!

Regards,

Balder

The UK government purchased over 3000 of these pistols in 1921 from the London Armory, which was the successor to Colts London Agency.
Your pistol shows both the crown V commercial proof and the military broad arrow mark which would lend creedence to the story.
A request to the British MOD might lead to more information for you.

Just to add to what has already been offered....the "34" is the Colt factory assembler's mark. The "R" is the Colt factory inspector's mark.
