To the best of my knowledge, the Navy proof for a Marine model should be on the front gripstrap, and the pistol would be a low grip screw model.

John is correct. Its a KM HSc with the E/M(6). See Axis Pistols page 174.

You description is of the low grip screw KM HSc with the E/M(5) on the front strap. See Axis Pistols page 173.

Everyone is correct. However, the initial KM acceptance consisting of a relatively large national eagle over M on the front grip strap was not limited only to the low grip screw variety (LGS). The KM continued this acceptance marking at that location for additional procurements of HSc pistols beyond the LGS.
Much later in the war, the KM acceptance mark was changed to the smaller proof and to the location shown in Mauserdad's photo.
