I've heard some talk about a possible updated reprint of Roy Pender's classic book "Mauser Pocket Pistols". While being a monumental effort, it would certainly be welcomed by collectors of smaller Mauser pistols. Does anyone have any information on any such activity or project?

The only thing I have heard is that his son or children had looked into getting it reprinted and nothing has come of it. This is just a rumor and I can't remember where I heard it.

There is a definate need for a good reference in this area. There was a NAPCA member, John LaCroix, who was doing reaseach on a Mauser Pocket Pistol book. Submitted quite a few letters to AutoMag on various points. Seemed to doing a fine job of putting together a reference. Don't know what happened to him. Pity

We all know that there are a number of Mauser pocket pistol experts that could produce a current reference book. A formidable obstacle would be the pistol photographs...unless one would be able to somehow acquire the photos used in Roy Pender's book and add some necessary new ones. Lots has been uncovered in the past thirty years.

I wonder if anyone has indeed pursued this issue with the Pender family and/or the original publisher. Another interesting project would be to have a separate book, or booklet, on each of the Mauser pocket pistols. Who says they all need to be covered in one book?

I would have an interest in publishing it, the photography would be no problem from my part as we have a full featured commercial photography business, geared towards publications.

Any ideas who to contact to proceed?

If somebody would like to publish about Mauser pocket pistols, may be I could also contribute some information
By the way: I think Roy Penders book ist still a good reference, but I really needs some update. Especially the part about Mauser WTP's is to small, may be the weakest part of the book
