Members – I have been compiling data on Mauser pistols for some time now. The data has helped me answer some of my own questions as well as provide information and answers to members of this and other forums. I currently have just over 170 records of WTP s in my database. I know these little pistols are hard to find to purchase and I assume many that have survived are in collections or tucked away in the homes of veterans, original owners and their heirs. Many of these will not be reported because there are collectors who will not share data on examples they own and others are not comfortable with the use of computers and the internet. I am respectfully requesting that if you own one of these examples or know someone who does that you would provide data on it for the benefit of those would are interested in learning about the history of Mausers through the examples that have survived. The data requested does not include any information on the ownership of the example nor will any source information be recorded. If you are willing please include the following information.
1.The complete serial number
2.Serial number location (LS = left slide, RS = right slide or REAR = rear slide)
3.Right slide marking (WAFFENFABRIK-MAUSER or MAUSER-WERKE) (BLOCK or SCRIPT)
4.Grip material, color and number of screws.
5.Proof mark and other markings
6.Number of slide serrations.
7.Finish and overall condition.
Posting images is also greatly appreciated. Answers to these 7 questions will allow me to determine if it is a WTP I or II model and which of the variations it is. I will be happy to provide feedback or answer questions about any example reported and I will not use these exchanges of information to attempt to acquire an example from you unless you offer it for sale.
