High Power holsters are one of the many things in life that I don't know much about. It has a steel pin and the maker's mark on the inside of the flap is hlv with a 4 below it which I think would indicate Maury & Co from Offenbach and production year of 1944. What I can't find is an acceptance stamp. Including a picture of the flap where it should be from what the books tell me. Could it be a commercial piece???? Any thoughts on value would also be appreciated.

The pictue of the hlv is not great but is the best I could come up with and is there...

Although there is no written statement to this effect but these non-waffenamt HLV holster were procured independently by the SS. My reasoning for that statement is the ample existence of numerous photos showing FN HP holsters being worn by SS personnel. One can find both waffenamt and non-waffenamt examples which would explain dual or multi channel procurement activities.

I agree.

But it should be noted that the marking on the inside of the flap did not fare as well as those in other places.

I have seen some where all or part of the markings are evidenced by only parts of the markings and with a little more use, they will be entirely gone. On oter ones, there would be no question that the WaA marking had never been there.

Dave,
I'm sure you know this, but two of my HP Holsters have the waffenamt on the inside of the flap to the left of the stud and down a bit. I never would have known the mark was there, but for a friend showing it to me. I have a 38H holster with the waffenamt in the same spot and this holster is dyed black...very hard to see!!

I have a nice brown pebble grain high power holster marked jkh 4 on the back and no WaA. Was it never issued ? or private purchase? Appreciate the help Bob

Check on the inside of the flap. On these later holsters, a lot of the holsters are marked there in whole or part.

On these holsters I have seen the WaA markings on the rear or the inside of the flap. The marings on the back of the pebble grain holsters are dicey at times to finds. Then there are those which have no WaA markings.

Huggie........ Thanks for the info on the SS. Didn't hurt a bit....

Dave...... I did check next to the pin but could not find anything. I think you were kind enough to tell me about that some time ago on another one that I had.

Anybody got any idea of fair value????

Many times the markings are not that close to the pin. Generally it is the upper left section (based on dividig the flap into four equal portions). But, in a minority of instances, I have have seen the WaA markings in the upper right section.
