Well, I just received my new book titled "French Service Handguns 1858-2004" by Eugene Medlin and Jean Huon.
If you are a handgun collector or a weapon historian, check this book out. It starts at the beginning of French handgun procurement and goes up to today. Hardbound with nice black and white photos with close ups on markings, acton photos and data charts.
Don't skip this one just because you aren't a "French Pistol " collector. The French used many guns from many countries.
If you are a Spanish collector, Axis collector, Savage collector, holster collector, revolver collector, WW1 or WW2 collector (like me) Check it out!
Lots of help went into this book from collectors in NAPCA and on this board.
Can you tell I love gun books! Can't wait for the next one!

PS: Got mine from "Tommygun Books" Phone 314 846-9460. It was $40 + shipping.

Dean,
Does it has an ISBN.
Who is the publisher?
Heinrich,
I don't see a ISBN number. The publisher is Tommy Gun Publications.
Hope this helps.

How much does it differ from the "first edition" (Excalibur Publications, 1993, soft cover, 124 pages) by these authors, entitled "Military Handguns of France, 1858-1958"?
Well, I am about half way through the book and I can say that although the subject matter is the same as the first one, this one goes into more detail and has updated info. Plus more photos of the pistols and their use.

Thanks for the report, Dean. Guess I'll put it on my "to buy" list, then. (I found the first edition very useful and have referred to it several times.)
The exclusive distributor for the French pistol book, is: Combat Books, Inc. www.combatbooks.com
