Hi all,

I'm very new to Lugers and am asking for opinions on this one. I have read through the archived messages and looked at several online Luger dealer offerings to get an idea of price.

I was thinking of buying the Luger offered here. I have emailed the seller and am awaiting a reply. I have asked for first right of refusal. The price is in my range, but I want to make sure that I am not paying too much for what it is.

Now, the questions I have asked the seller are:

1. Is the finish original?
2. Are ALL parts that are to be numbered, numbered correctly to the piece, including the grips?
3. What are your terms?

Can anyone give me specific questions to ask?

I do plan on buying "Third Reich Lugers".

Thanks to all that can help.

Semper Fi,

Mike

you asked if all the parts have matching numbers and are numbered where appropriate when you should have asked "IS IT ALL ORIGINALLY NUMBERED AND MATCHING ? ". The parts can be all numbered and matching but not done when manufactured. This is where the COTTAGE INDUSTRY comes into play.

Huggiebear and Pete,

Thank you for your insight. I will be speaking with the seller tomorrow. I will revise my questions as needed in regards to the parts markings.

If everything is a go (all parts are original), what would be a ballpark price for the piece? Should I touch it if some parts aren't original?

Thanks and Semper Fi,

Mike

Because the condition is not what would be sought after by collectors, the chances are that one has not boosted it but, IF all the parts are original and all matching your selection should be considerable lower than a $900 figure. If not all matching and original then look elsewhere. You can do better with less.

Huggiebear,

Thanks for the insight. I have a copy of "Third Reich Lugers" on order. Can't wait to get it.

I am waiting for the store to open so I can ask my updated questions. I will see how low they will go.

I will post updates as soon as I can.

Semper Fi,

Mike
