Gentlemen,
I am revising my information on P38 grips based on new observations and need your help. The new format will be easier to read and hopefully more insightful since not much is written about P38 grips.
When you remove the grips from a Mauser or Walter pistol, the lower circle will have a 1529 or 1528 marking in them. (In most cases) Under the marking is a number from 1-9 as I have observed on my pistols. Have any of you seen any other numbers like a 10, 11 or 12?
I believe that these numbers may be the mold position numbers very similar to the Julius Posselt company grips. However unlike the grips used on Spreewerk I have found all nine numbers on both the right and left grips which could mean that perhaps a seperate mold was used for right and left grips. The Julius Posselt grips are marked on the Left grip 1,2,3,7,8,9 and Right grips have 4,5,6,10,11,12
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
