This holster appears to be made from a PO8 form. The flap has the profile associated with the PO8. The closure is typical P38. The mag pouch is wide enough for a P38 mag but is not cut at the usual angle. The waffenamt is WaA 170 and there appears to be a faint strife of another waffenamt below it possibly in a circle. The waffenamt is a stick type and is larger than most I have seen. This black holster is very well made and appears old and little used. It is very hard to get a P38 in it and likewise a mag is a tight but possible fit. It has the typical P38 marking. Comments appreciated.

Fred, welcome to the forum!

It could be a luger police holster, as they have the same type of closure strap as a P38.

Can you scan it in or take a digital picture?

Ed, I'm embarassed to admit that I don't know how to do that but may be able to get one of the kids to help. Is WaA 170 correct for a holster made in Vienna? It is clearly marked P38. Thanks, Fred

Fred, sorry, I am taking wild guesses... I know little about P38's, let alone holsters. I am sure someone more intelligent than me on P38's will come along.

And, there are huge numbers of people that have no clue how to scan or put digital pictures from the camera to the web. I learned because the Army needed me to learn, and then I found I enjoyed it and now do it as part of my job.

It also has crossed signal flags impressed on the right side below the P38 stamping. This stamping is deep and very similiar to the imsignia worn by US signal officers. The strap lift inside the holster does not go through the holster from like a PO8 but attaches inside like a P38 should. The leather is age cracked and probably shrunken. Brown leather is visible where the black has worn off in several places.
