Last year, my Christmas present to myself (Walther Export series "E suffix" P38) was delayed. I have been on the lookout for a WWII model ever since. This year, my fortunes have turned and I was able to grab this one early. It's an ac42 2nd variation. It came in a bml/44 softshell. I was very happy to find this P38 and have a nice set of Walthers.
The "E suffix" is a postwar commercial which was intitially intended for export, however, this particular example was purchased in Germany and brought back to the U.S. in the early sixties (most likely not long after it was manufactured or "put together"). Here are some pics of the two pistols.
