Thanks for looking! I just picked this up at a local thriftshop where it was labeled as "ww2 german pistol holster". Can't find a holster with this particular snap botton tho, so figured I ask you guys. Do you have any idea what the make, if it was used for a mauser, and around what time these holsters were made? The holster is void of any prints or stamps, so others have suggested that it may be a non-military holster. What are your thoughts on this? Any info is welcome - many thanks!

I have seen this snap design many times on German Imperial era military equipment.

Looks to be a private purchase holster of the Imperial era.
Based upon the relative snap size, I'd say it might be for a 6.35mm pistol.

I have that same snap design on several of my Imperial German WWI trench knife scabbards.

Those snaps show up on the Dutch Luger holsters and magazine pouches, too.

From my limited experience I believe this was a common snap of the era. Likely produced by a very large European firm , it's availability was widespread throughout the Continent and consequently was used by most everyone who needed a snap for leather goods.

Whoever is currently making the repro Dutch mag pouches and holsters evidently has access to modern production of these snaps . The repro snaps do appear more "domed" than the originals.
