These are the different magazine bottom-Police style markings I have acquired thus far in my collection. I am sure there are many more that I have yet to come across. If you have some different ones please share your pictures. These are only the bottoms, I know the tube markings and styles vary greatly as well.

Just asking - did you happen to buy Police Lugers?

And - although not out of print, we have none in stock....

I have scores of pictures of bottoms - will look at yours in a min

--------------------------------
i see

eagle 46 - simson replacement mag - looks police but could be army, but they seem to be on many police
Starburts K - police
eagle C - nazi police
Star S - east german police
eagle f - nazi police
eagle L - nazi police
HX - special name for it, I can't ever remember
Dove
Last two are both weimar era

What is interesting is that you see them stamped on the base and on the spine - and manytimes both at the same time

Ed, I have attempted a few bids on eBay for the book and at SimpsonLTD the other day....not a winner yet. Thanks for the info on the mags, you are correct about the spine markings, most of the non nazi (except Eagle L) are spine marked same as the base. The Eagle L is base marked and side tube marked.

Another for the collection. It has a Police Eagle D Proof on the base, tube is Haenel Spine marked with the “StarH” as well. Were there actually any Eagle D or F proofed Luger’s? I have seen L and C...

I have two E/D mags. I have never seen an E/D on a gun.

I have only seen E/D on magazines - must have been who was assigned to the factory, the Haenel factory who supplied magazines to the police, if I remember right

Here is an example of the early (pre 1937) "starburst D" police inspection stamp. I have not observed the "star D" or "E-D" inspection mark on a gun. Only seen E-K, E-F, E-C and E-L on receivers.

Yes, I have seen it before. I never knew if it represented a person (inspector) or the first letter of a particular city. Nice mag! Jim
