Gentlemen,

This P.38 saw service with the Nazi police then was reworked by the East German police and saw service there. Notice the treatment of the Eagle/N proof marks.

I find these post war reworks most interesting.

Ron,

The original firing pin had a flaw in it. When the hammer is lowered with the safety lever it hits the back of the firing pin which is locked in place by the two lugs. If the lugs break the gun will go off FULL AUTO when the safety is lowered.

The extra two lugs on the East German pin act as a stop point if the first two lugs fail.
