Thanks for all the help with my decision to pick up that Sauer 38h. I did not quite have enough money so I put some cash on it to hold it for me. The pistol has no slide legend at all. The serial number is 500292. The left trigger guard bow has the E/F. I also observed E/N nitro proofs on the barrel end, slide and frame. What did I get here? I will be able to pick it up in about a month and report more. I paid $350 for this. Good, bad or ugly?

Michael, Congratulations, good score!! Late war 1944-45 issue commercial Police. 4th variation, if manual safety. 4a variation w/o manual safety. $350.00 is a good price if it's in decent cond. Does the mag bottom have finger nail groove? Or is the magazine marked S&S?

Ron,
There is no safety on this pistol. At first I thought the magazine might be a replacement and even mentioned as much in my original posting on this piece. After poking around some other posts on this site I see it is a correct magazine for this pistol. The pistol has a stamped bottom.
