I have several Mauser 1934 Navy pistols. I noticed all but one has the crown U behind the rear sight and on the barrel. That Mauser has the eagle N in the same places as the Crown U. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Hi Robert,
The E/N is a Third Reich era war time commercial proof. Later production than the C/U proof.

Eagle/N came into use in Jan 1940, I am told? Previous reports of Apr 1940 are reported now as incorrect.

The Mauser 1934 Navy Models are the variation 4 according to Still. The C/U proof is serial number 563298 and the E/N is 587744. Would anyone know what was the begining serial number for the 1934 Model starting Jan 1, 1940?

In Whittington's vol.II pg 194 is 1934 # 578249 manufactured 1940. And on pg 41 #556915 manufactured 1939.

Thanks Orv and Ron. I just posted a new topic thanks to you guys. Adler gave me the production and serial numbers for the HSc, and now I would like them for the 1934. Since I have limited my collection to only these, do you guys know of any one who might have an answer?

Commercial guns has C/N after Jan. 1940 if I remember correct?!
