I came across a two tone 1911 magazine, no lanyard loop. The magazine floorplate is marked "Colt 45 Auto". Is this correct and what 1911 would it go with? What is a fair price for the magazine?
I believe that is a commercial and not military magazine for the Government Model. Colt started marking their commercial magazines on the bottom of the base plate with "Colt 45 Auto" in the early 1930s around commercial serial number C170,000. I don't think the military mags were marked that way, but someone will correct me if I am wrong.
According to Clawson, the lanyard loop was eliminated on July 18, 1916. The last Colt produced with a lanyard loop was S/N 125566.
