Recently acquired a very nice 1938 S/42 Kriegsmarine marked piece. Looks to have had some very slight handling and little if any firing. She was *very* stiff opening for detailed examination. There was still fairly substantial quantities of hardened grease in the sideplate internals and at the juncture of the middle toggle link and firing pin. The sniff testand consistency (hardening to granules, some fiberous material present) said this stuff was old. Will send some pix when I figure out how to insert them into this.
