OK, well yesterday didn’t really go as I planned. But after all the dust settled I do feel like we have something great going ,and we should continue. So let’s try again. Saturday January 28th at 11 AM Eastern standard time we will have our refinishing zoom. I have been working on this project for a little time now. I have two examples of refinished vs. original. I have a 1941–42 code comparison , we will compare a original gun with a refinished gun. Then I was offered a 1941 byf that is 190 serial numbers away from another gun in my collection, and it’s the same block. When I showed up at the gun shop to look at it, I made some really cool discoveries. The next day I went back with my original finish gun and compare the two. So we will do a step-by-step analysis. I am also working on a Font project with Quintin and Dwight , so we may talk about that a little . I will send out an official meeting announcement next week. Thanks

Thank you very much to @HerrKaiser for spearheading our font project with assistance from @Like_Old_Guns , @Dwight Gruber, and @Vlim . Roger has uncovered another element that ties into Mauser production of P.38 , and how it relates to our data . @nieuport also discovered a similar anomaly in Sauer production fonts that he will follow up on . Very exciting.
We spoke about bluing and @Dwight Gruber and @Vlim were spot on with analysis. Thank you .

Here is an example of poorly done rust bluing (note the micro pits). The iron oxide sat to long before it was converted to black oxide or the method to create the rust was to aggressive (later being the real reason)
