Have had this for decades, but know little. SN 319681, Eagle C on trigger guard, Eagle N on Slide & Frame, good original grips [I think], 2 mags [1 original]
Want to learn Manufacture Date, and anything else to dispel my ignorance.

Nice pistol. Both mags are correct Sauer for the 38h, however the stamped bottom plate was used later then your pistol. Looks like the detent pin is dislodged or tampered with that holds the base of the mag on.
This is a Police issue pistol having the Police modified mag release, left side of the pistol behind trigger guard. This was done to some of the Police pistols to alleviate accidental release of the magazine while utilizing the pistol. Essentially the mag release was shortened and the cross hatch pattern was applied.
Manufacture date off the top of my head, would be 1942
