I think you will find that your .455 is not a 1917. It is .455 Mark II Hand Ejector Second Model. It should have a 6 1/2' barrel whereas the 1917 was 5 1/2" and was made only in 45ACP. The 2nd Model was made on contract for the UK between 1915 and 1917. Most are British marked with about 14,500 Canadian marked and around 1100 "Civilian" models (No military markings). Nice to see one of these that hasn't been butchered into 45ACP or 45 Long Colt.
