Henry,
Credit goes to George (keoki7) for this explanation. The bullets are loaded in this mag at a steeper angle. Notice that the follower pivots to allow this. At first I thought my ammo was too long also. Just load it to military length. What you do is: Take one full turn on the handle and lock it into its retaining opening by pushing the button down into the slot and turning the handle a slight amount counter clockwise while releasing the button. Next, load a few cartridges by hand and then put on the loader and continue loading. When you have the proper amount of cartridges loaded, unlatch the handle so the heavy captured spring can do it's work!!! Whew!! :))

Henry,
As I said before, Geo was the guy who explained it to me. I also had several dents in the housing that were binding mine up. I took it apart, removed the dents and voila!! we are in business!. You had asked about taking another turn on the crank and Geo said no,,,, If you ever had it apart you would actually see why not to do that....I won't bore you with the details but it coud get messy!!:))

Henry;
I took mine apart and cleaned it up adding a light coat of grease to the walls. Originally when I first opened it, it was caked with dried gease that I think contributed to it's binding up. You will have to contend with a two foot long follower spring that is kind of tricky to replace without kinking it though!!. You only have to remove the bottom large head screw and the small screw with the nut on it that holds the bottom extension of the mag. tube. Just lift the cover off the can like you are taking the lid off of a coffee can.Good Luck!!
