I just purchased a 1917 Erfurt with very odd unit marks. Very small font and stamped long the edge of the strap. From top down. I hope they are indeed unit marks. The pistol was billed as a police, but it's not a police rework. And I don't believe the markings are police.
These are the sellers photos and kind of fuzzy. Will post better and more complete photos when it arrives. The unit mark is:

17.3KP.FLA.M.C or(G?).ABT. 912

Any ideas??

Thanks, Ron

Hi Ron,
That would be as good a guess as any. Better than I can come up with. There is nothing in any of the books that I have. I asked Jeff Noll and he has'nt gotten back to me yet. The troubling part, is the size of the stamping and the way it is applied.

Thanks, Ron

Jan, Thanks! Would this be a scarce marking? I was concerned that it was'nt even an honest unit mark.

Ed, Tell them to take a number, I'll call them in order as soon as I heal up from the first beating. ;) The up side is that if the Mrs. decides to shoot me. It will have to be with a Luger.

Thanks! Ron

Shelly, I remember that post. I researched every referrence I could find, including Cron's, and still came up blank. I passed right over "Cron's" documentation of "Flamga" units. It just did'nt connect at the time. It could very well be a arbitrarily applied unit marks.
