Thanks for the information on your 1917 dated Steyr Hahn, serial number 4901q, marked 6UMGK/11. Does the Austria Hungary Ulanen Regiment have machine gun Kompagnies or Eskadrons?

Hi Jan,

As I understand it, the 6 Ulan was a Mountain Machine Gun Company made up of Germans, who supported the Austrians in the mountainous regions. In essence they were mountain special forces. That is what is so unique and rare about this item.

This information is based from a conversation I had with a collector of WW1 Ulan memorabilia. He wants this gun bad. I am glad you like it.
