Here is my read of the unit markings (Heinrich, If I am in error please point out my mistakes):
* 1908 DWM, s/n 1597 : B.8.R.M.G.81. - Bayerisches, 8 Infanterie-Regiment, Maschinengewehr-Kompagnie, Waffe Nr.81.

*1916 DWM, sn 3715 l : 139.R.6.C. - 139th Infanterie-Regiment, 6th Kompagnie.

While not exactly according to rules the “C” signifies “Compagnie” which is an older usage of the word “Kompagnie” It is not a common usage but I have documented it on a 1914 DWM, a 1917 DWM and, a bayonet all shown below.

1917 DWM, s/n 1874b : 30.R.8.C.2. - (30 Infanterie-Regiment, 8 Kompagnie, Waffe Nr. 2). 8.C.2. peened out and replaced with 3.M.G.K.13 forming 30.R.3.M.G.K.13 - (30 Infanterie-Regiment, 3 Maschinengewehr-Kompagnie, Waffe Nr. 13)
