Just for the record, the above depicted Rod is the very same as 2 examples I have in my collection, although one is of black plastic, which was included with my Boxed Walther P.38 circa 1970's production. ( E Prefix or Suffix, can't recall which, but indicates an Export piece. While my other one accompanied my Ex Polizei issue 1965 mfg Walther PP was of brass.
It appears as if Walther has apparently been using the above configuration since at least the late 1960' +/- & saw no need to change the format as the years went on, only the material was changed.
