Nice pistol. As you correctly said, a 1937 Mauser P.08 made for the German army, early in the year, so still rust blued with strawed small parts. The full serial shoud include a letter which is visible at the front of the frame, as they were made on blocks of 10,000 with a letter suffix.

It looks like you have a very nice 1937 military P.08 9mm Luger.

It's always hard to tell in a photograph, but look carefully to see if it has signs of been re-finished.
Slide the upper off and look to see if the rails are in the white, as they should be.
It should also have all matching small parts, which you will see with the upper removed.
There should be marks where the rear toggle hits the frame in the back.

The left side serial numbers have some halos (white showing), which is a good sign it's original finish in those places, but not the top.

It's very rare that the magazine will match.
