Holster appears to have had a black finish. No marks that I can see inside or out, just a Crown D(?)

It was "accepted", presumably, but who made it?

You see a C/D stamped on Mauser 1914's and Dreyse pistols when they are accepted by the military, might this be the same?

And do those stamps signify that the govbernment bought them or that an inspector gave the OK for private purchase use.
