ERFURT No Date Army Rework?

New to Lugers trying to find out what this one is. The toggle says ERFURT but I think the Imperial stamps look like GSS. The serial number is 363 on the upper and lower. I assume barrel was changed I only see. 9 (6?) on the bottom of both ends. The grips must be some aftermarket ones. They are very loose and not wood. No marks on the inside. Lots of hard to see marks that I can't seem to find a reference to. Possibly a 20 and a 3 in a square in the rear of the upper frame. I'm guessing this would be a shooter and is worth around $1000.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of knowledgeable people here willing to help you as much as possible.

This is what I think I see... and I may be wrong. You have a DWM receiver with the date scrubbed and an Erfurt toggle train. Look at the front of the trigger guard. Is there a crown/letter stamped on the front? If there, it's an Erfurt frame. If not there, the frame is DWM. The first crown/letter (far left) looks to be a crown/small h.. German fractur letters are difficult to read sometimes. The DWM Eagle has been scrubbed from the receiver and with the missing date, this may have been reworked for sale as a commercial pistol. The grips are replacements. The barrel may also be a replacement. It has been refinished some.

The mismatched parts and condition make this a shooter that you can use without fear of hurting collector value. It's a good Luger to begin with and I'm sure there will be more.

Did this gun come from Royal tiger? It has the remnants of a Russian capture X and looks like the ones coming out of Ethiopia. I agree with Ryan that the barrel is from a Bulgarian rework but I don't think this gun in it's present state is it.
