Glisenti M1910 help

I finally came across a Glisenti M1910 and couldn't resist. I am amazed at the quality of this beauty! The serial# is O 1457 and it is all matching and has the takedown tool under the grip. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the year of manufacture was for this pistol and whether the wood grips might be original. They are not numbered and I have seen conflicting reports as to whether original grips were made from wood or bakelite. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Thank you, Dave. I am glad to hear that. I had read somewhere that bakelite grips were the original issue, but that since they were so prone to breaking, they were replaced with wood grips. Seemed odd that a pistol made in 1910-20s would have bakelite grips as original issue, but this is not my area of expertise.
Thanks again,
Alex

The Glisenti was originally issued with bakelite grips, they were very fragile and broke with extreme facility, when this occurred they were replaced with wooden grips. To find a Glisenti with its original bakelite grips is not easy. In the pictures below I like to show you my Glisenti and my Brixia

That is the Model designation!! I would like to know when mine was made also.

Dave
It's very hard to determine exactly the date when a Glisenti 1910 was made because there is not an official database of that and even the contract between FAB and the italian govern was not clearly detailed.
We have only some reliable info:
- the total production was 32.000 pistols;
- the pistols were marked FAB 1910 with the exception of the first 5000 guns, from A1 to C1000, that were marked FAB 1909;
- the serial numbers were alphanumeric ( italian alphabet, without J,K and X);
- each lot of pistols was made up of 2000 pistols;
- until the present no S and beyond serial numbers are known.

Glisenti 1910

Live & learn, I guess

I have both the Glisenti 1910 & Brixia 1912 just about the same condition as the pictures posted.
My Glisenti 1910 is S/N B1107 marked FAB 1909. Always thought the 1909 was the manufacture date, guess I was wrong.

Does anyone have a spare mag for the Brixia 1912. Would like to complete the rig, if possible.

Dear Don it is very hard to find a "Pistola Automatica Modello 1913 tipo Regia Marina". This is the definition of this gun, which was adopted by the Italian Navy to replace the Mauser Model 1899. In fact, the lots were 1000 samples, instead of 2000 as for the Glisenti Mod. 1910, and letters of the prefix "A", "B", "C", "D" and "E". So the Mod. 1913, should be, in toto, circa 5000.
To find a magazine is much more difficult.
Cordialissimi saluti

Thank you, Giuliano

I had it listed as Pistola Automatica Modello 1912. I think that came from a book I have. Will have to change my data sheet. Excellent pistol, serial number A85 with all matching numbers.
Been looking for a spare magazine for quite some time with no luck. Will keep trying.
