Was at the local shop and they have what they told me was a Mitchel Arms WW1 DWM Luger with their presentation box and all the paper work. The pistol looks perfect and I would think that it was restored by them. I think I remember years ago them selling stuff like that. What would something like that be worth?

IMO they are a total rip off and are nothing but a reblued shooter in a nice box with some BS paper work. I have seen several come into shows where the family bought one for Dad because he served in WW 2 and always wanted one. I think pricing was around $4000.

I think we might be getting Mitchell Arms Lugers (made in stainless steel) mixed up with the over-done, reblued, and fancied-up Lugers sold by the American Historical Foundation outfit...

Sold (and Made ???) by some gun shop in Virginia State at this address :

Pete, Mitchell Arms did Lugers and P.38s in the same fashion as their mausers, refinish, renumber, fit in a wooden case with a fake medal, and sell with Certificate of Authenticity for a collector's premium price. I believe these are what he is asking about.

I looked on line and found them selling for $5000 at Mitchel Mauser's. I do not know if they are still in business. The restoration on this WW1 DWM is excellent. I was thinking about offering $1000 for it. This gun does not look like your typical re-blue. It really is very well done. They want $4400 for it and probably would not accept my offer. Best to check here first with you guys. I actually had a catalog from them maybe 15 or more years ago and I think they were selling for $2500 then. That is when I first started in this hobby and bought a 40-42 original from Check Point Charlie for $700 instead.

Before spending $4400.00 for a reblue shooter grade in a fancy box move up a notch & buy one of Lugermans 45's
