What would "R.Bg." mean? Can't find it in Noll's or Görtz. I found the "L.Bg". which translates to "Air surveillance Brandenburg" and
"PBg.", "Burg Police School".
Can anyone define these markings. Thanks, Ron

Ron,

I'll bet that the "R." is really a "P." and that it stands for Polizeischule Burg. I will soon publish and post an article demonstrating that police school marks with the 1922 format "P.X." and the individual school abbreviations of the 1932 orders were used in the period 1922 - 32.

It's quite possible that the leg you are seeing on the "R" is from an earlier mark that was ground off. I'll be very interested to know. Can you post a photo of the mark?

Ron,

I would really like to add this to my database of Weimar police marks. Could you either email (dermaus@aol.com) or post a photo of the grip strap and the s/n of the Luger? If not a photo, at least a description of the full mark including weapon number. Also, I'm assuming from your ID of this as police that it has at least a sear safety. True?
